Children are the Future

In light of the election and everything that is making the news, nationally and globally, I begin to worry about the world my daughter will grow up in. I know I’m not the first parent to think this and I’m sure a lot of parents struggle with this daily worry as I do. History has shown me that even in the darkest times women were still getting pregnant and parents were raising their children the best they could, during world wars, epidemics, depressions and dictators. It’s a natural process for us to procreate if we are able to.

So with that in mind, how do I move forward with the idea of what kind of world my daughter will grow up in, learn from, and become a part of? We can protect our children for a short amount of time before they become adults and make their own destinies. I guess my answer to my question is a little vague but it’s the best I can come up with; teach her right from wrong, allow her to make mistakes to learn from, be a supportive parents, don’t say yes to everything, open up her eyes to the world when she’s ready and allow her to be independent.

Now the real struggle will be implementing these parental guidelines I’ve set forth. I can do it, I’ll be the best version of myself for her so I can teach her to be a strong and positive individual in this crazy, crazy world. I hope this works!
